This newly updated accreditation manual, Joint Commission International Accreditation Standards for Laboratories, 4^th Edition, is organized into four major categories: 

1. Accreditation Participation Requirements
2. Patient-Centered Standards
3. Laboratory Organization Management Standards, and
4. Laboratory Quality Control Standards.

New chapters on Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (QPS) and Prevention and Control of Infections (PCI) are introduced in the section on Laboratory Organization Management Standards. 

This 4^th edition also expands the Quality Control Process (QCP) chapter to align with the most recent advances in laboratory medicine and include requirements for different laboratory specialties including the following:

Joint Commission International Accreditation Standards for Laboratories, 4^th Edition also includes a crosswalk to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 15189 Medical Laboratories—Requirements for Quality and Competence. JCI standards that were identified as equivalent in the ISO 15189 Technical Requirements list common quality control and process standards.

This manual also includes an introduction that serves as a user’s guide, a summary of JCI’s accreditation policies and procedures, a comprehensive glossary of key terms, and a detailed index. All standards and policies contained in this manual are effective 1 January 2022.

Payment Options

All Joint Commission Resources products require pre-payment. For your convenience, if you do not have a credit card available, we offer a sales quote/proforma invoice option to assist with initiating your payment. Payments submitted by check take up to 14 days to process. If you are registering for a program less than 14 days away, your registration may not be received in time and your seat may not be reserved. You will not have access to electronic program materials until your payment has been received. We strongly recommend credit card payments for any events less than 14 days away.

To take advantage of this option:

1. Choose your item(s) and add them to your shopping cart. Select "Proceed to Secure Checkout or Create Proforma Invoice."
2. Enter your billing and shipping details. Select "Continue."
3. The next screen will be a full summary of your order.
4. On the bottom right, there is a section titled "Create Proforma Invoice."
5. Click the "Proforma Invoice" button. (See image below.) 
6. Within 5 minutes, a sales quote will be sent to your email address with details about how to complete a check or wire transfer payment.
