Certification Requirement:

  • Complete the virtual, self-paced training course.
  • Apply the tools in your area to solve a problem.
  • Submit your project work for certification.

The participant will have 45 days to complete the 7 virtual, self-paced training modules (which will take 4 hours in total to complete) and 4 months thereafter to complete an improvement project that they can submit for certification.

The 7 training modules include:

Module 1: Welcome to Yellow Belt

This module provides an overview and introduces the trainee to Robust Process Improvement (RPI), a blended approach of Lean, Six Sigma, and change management. It defines the different components of RPI: Lean, Six Sigma, and change management. This module also describes the problem-solving approach.

Module 2: What Needs To Be Improved?

In this section you will gain insight about the problem being solved. This module will focus on defining the problem including why is it important to solve now, determining the opportunities for improvement, specifying customer expectations, and understanding the process where the problem exists.

Module 3: How Do You Know?

In this section you will gain insight about gathering voice of the customer about the problem. This module will also focus on understanding the baseline measurement and drilling down to the critical root causes of the problem.

Module 4: How Do You Get Others Involved?

In this section you will learn concepts and tools to gain acceptance, buy-in, and accountability from those that work in the process. With any process improvement initiative, solutions that will be implemented for improvement require a change by those working in the process. Central to any change made are the people.

Module 5: How Will You Solve It?

In this section you gain insights on how to identify the best solutions targeted to the root causes that were identified. In addition, you will learn a tool to identify the risk for solution failures and how to reduce that risk.

Module 6: How Will You Make It Last?

In this section you will learn concepts and tools to help sustain the improvements. This will also include the development of standard work and data display to help embed the improvements as part of daily work.

Module 7: Training Review and Next Steps

The final module provides a review of the tools that were taught in the previous modules and next steps to use these tools not just for process improvement initiatives but as part of your daily work.
